 Preparation for Portfolio Drawing #2 SKBK#5.1 Ten pairs of people three with metaphors I quickly decided on the empty bonsai pot to represent myself and the olive tree to represent the professor and classmates of the Drawing I class. The drawing is to represent the way their encouragement has brought "life" back to the artistic part of me that had been "shelved" during my recent past and my hope that my presence in the class has encouraged them. I would not have imagined dirt being so difficult to draw. I am still struggling to draw forms correctly. I decided to show the pot reflected into the shiny piano surface and the tree to be viewed from the pot's perspective as it was being planted. Simulating Texture and Getting Rid of Lines   SKBK#4.1 Reflections in charcoal: red clear pitcher  SKBK#4.2 Reflections in graphite: An outside window and blinds reflected in an inside window curtained on the opposite side.   SKBK#4.3 Reflections in graphite: a metal bowl on a polished wood tabletop SKBK#4.4 Rough texture object in charcoal: olive tree and roots SKBK#4.6 Rough texture in graphite: Plastic dinosaur   SKBK#4.5 Rough texture in graphite: Stone lawn ornament lamb Things I learned from this assignment:  I don't draw well when I am stressed or tired I can get darker values with charcoal than graphite Things I struggled with:  Still need a lot of practice on drawing forms Still need a lot of practice drawing reflections and light Drawing large Things I feel good about: I practiced a lot during spring break I got the assignment completed and turned in with grace on deadlines.
